Sobering codition

Mortage crisis

AWL Gapmaker

After years of flooding Americans with credit card offers and sky-high credit lines, lenders are sharply curtailing both, just as an eroding economy squeezes consumers .

The pullback is affecting even creditworthy consumers and threatens an already beleaguered banking industry with another wave of heavy losses after an era in which it reaped near record gains from the business of easy credit that it helped create .

Lenders wrote off an estimated %2421 billion in bad credit card loans in the first half of 2008 as more borrowers defaulted on their payments. With companies laying off tens of thousands of workers, the industry stands to lose at least another %2455 billion over the next year and a half, analysts say. Currently, the total losses amount to 5.5 percent of credit card debt outstanding, and could surpass the 7.9 percent level reached after the technology bubble burst in 2001.

"If unemployment continues to increase, credit card net charge-offs could exceed historical norms," Gary L. Crittenden, Citigroup's chief financial officer, said.

Faced with sobering conditions, companies that issue MasterCard, Visa and other cards are rushing to stanch the bleeding, even as options once easily tapped by borrowers to pay off card obligations, like home equity lines or the ability to transfer balances to a new card, dry up.

Sport

The third unit is sport, we saw many kind of sports with Alex and we had also discovered each sport's equipment . I found this unit really interesting maybe because i love sports especially tennis so i have many things to say about it ; it wasn't the case of Ramona cause she hates sports.

Infact, i used to play tennis and i don't miss any tournament, my favourite player is Marat Safin he is from Russia and is a well known tennis player besides he is cute and a very charismatic person.

We had also talked about other sport that we don't really know quit well such as lacrosse, squash and scuba-diving.

Cambridge people

I went to Cambridge last Sunday with my classmates and I was impressed by its people.

In fact, they are kind, polite and especially warm and helpful . As it was our first time there, we didn't really know so much about the place so we asked some people for help. It was very kind of them because it meant a lot for us to discover the place so as to write a significant information about the city.

I also noticed that they are active and like to enjoy their lives ; they spend most of their time shopping because there are lots of shops to choose from.

Another thing we can stress is that some of them are very creative; they are fond of the arts; for example I saw a group of students making a scary movie.
We saw blood everywhere and some beheaded hands and head. It was similar to the Vampire movie or Dracula. Some of them scared us ; it was quit funny and they let us take a picture with them.

However, we had some difficulties with a man who is responsible for the security in King's college. According to him, only Kings students and staff are allowed to enter the university. We were eager to go there but we felt the gentleman was unnecessarily rude : he refused to let us in . We decided to try another access to the college ; I know it is illegal but it was an urgent need to enter the faculty . I have to say that it was not our day because the other porter was really harsh and impolite so he rejected us, but at least we had tried.

To conclude ,Cambridge people are an easy going bunch and it was a pleasure to meet them, however , be careful of its porter!

The Ady people

I'm gonna focus on the family ties in the Adi tribe and to be honest there is nothing to say about it as the video was focused mostly on the tribe's food, religion and their way of life but through their attitudes and some comments of women we can have an idea about the way they treat each other .

Infact, I noticed that they live together sharing the same tent so they are so close to each other ; women spent their days cleaning, cooking and raising their children and men went to hunt monkeys or rats. It 's quit weird but that's what they eat anyway. I heard a woman claiming that they feel free when their husbands go to hunt, I don't know why maybe because they are under pressure when their men are in home that is to say they are so demanding and pushed them to work harder, it could be so when they leave, they feel a kind of relief and they just wait for them to bring food . The good part is they live in a lovely warming atmosphere; we can feel love , affection and brotherhood.... It is similar to my tribe which is a mixture of tunisian, italian, spanish and french tribes ,thus we're so close to each other. However we don't live in tents so it's quit different from our way of living ;I mean women do not stay in homes waiting for their husbands to bring food and what kind of food rats..... It's absolutely different from us!

What I think about this story

what I liked the most about this story , is the courage of the officer as he risked his own life to save the others ; it is not an easy decision to take I mean he did it because it's his job but what a risk to take especially the guy was holding a knife and was completly insane so I praise this brave officer and people should learn from him I mean we should give a credit to those people who risked their lives to save ours and it is not an easy job at all so well done officer!!!!

The impact of this incident on the residents

Well, I think that everybody was affected by this story cause it is about children's life who were threatenig by a crazy boy so it was an urgent need to deal with that situation and trying to react through the interference of the police and it worked finally.

A fascinating story comes from Cambridge

It's about a brave officer who attacked an 18 year old teenager who was about to kill his family in a Cambourne flat.
Infact, PC Martin Lloyd was honoured for his courage as well as his commitment to his job , eventhough he was in bad condition I mean the guy has a knife and was threatening everybody including children but the officer knew how to deal with him so he used some useful and tactical techniques to stop the boy who was threatening to kill himself and his family so he did face him knowing that he is suffering from mental problems besides he was worried about the children who were in.
